Overview

This experience is not simply about wearing a kimono.
It is an invitation to understand how clothing shapes awareness, posture, and the way we relate to the world.
Set in a 280-year-old traditional townhouse in Iwamura Castle Town—one of Japan’s highest castle towns
—you will learn directly from a practitioner who continues to live in kimono and traditional Japanese hairstyle in her daily life.
Through her guidance, you will explore:
・The philosophy behind Japanese clothing as a form of harmony
・The differences between Western and Japanese dress
・The meaning embedded in structure, movement, and seasonal awareness
You will then learn to dress yourself in kimono, not as a costume, but as a practice of alignment between body and mind.
Finally, dressed in your own kimono, you will walk through the historic streets of Iwamura
—experiencing the town not as a visitor, but as a presence within it.
The experience concludes with a reflective session, where you will rediscover what it means to “wear” a way of being.
