International Conference on Sustainability and the Cold Chain (ICCC2024) Sponsorship Request

The Japan Society of Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (JSRAE) is pleased to announce that the 8th International Conference on Sustainability and the Cold Chain (ICCC) will be held in June 2024, jointly with IIR (International Institute of Refrigeration). The first ICCC was held in 2010 in Cambridge, UK. The theme of the conference is about the cold chain and its sustainability for wide-area distribution of food products, and the main topics include "Food Refrigeration Equipment", "Low GWP Refrigerants", "Use of Renewable Energy", and "Food Preservation, Transportation, Quality Maintenance, and Safety”. Since then, the conference has been held every two years in Paris (France, 2012), London (UK, 2014), Auckland (New Zealand, 2016), Beijing (China, 2018), Nantes (France, 2020 [hybrid]), and Newcastle (UK, 2022 [online]). This will be the first time in six years that the conference will be held entirely face-to-face.

The ICCC2024 will be held at Waseda University, Tokyo, Japan from June 9th (Sunday) to 11th (Tuesday), and will include invited plenary lectures, workshops, and scientific sessions. In addition, a banquet is planned to provide a venue for the exchange of ideas and networking among the speakers and others involved in the cold chain. A technical tour will be organized to visit related facilities.

Based on the previous conferences, we expect about 80 oral presentations and 150 participants, along with a significant number of researchers and engineers from around the world attending the ICCC2024. The cold chain is an indispensable system to support in meeting the food demand. To achieve the SDGs and carbon neutrality, it is necessary to further maintain high quality food while reducing its environmental impact. It is envisioned that technologies developed in the food cold chain, such as vaccine supply in the event of a pandemic, will be applied to other sectors, such as medicine and energy. JSRAE hopes to stimulate discussion, and research and development on this topic in Japan. We hope that you will support ICCC2024 and work with us to solicit sponsorship.
